As a small registered charity we rely on revenue from fundraising to help us update our equipment and buy new resources for the children. We apply for grants whenever possible and have several fundraising schemes that we participate in, as well as organising our own events, but we are always looking for new fundraising ideas! If you have any suggestions please email them to email@example.com. We let parents and carers know about any specific fundraising events that are coming up, but there are some examples below of the events and schemes that we get involved in.
The Giving Machine
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for Duxford Pre-school? There are nearly 1,500 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Next, Debenhams and eBay, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend each time you shop with them. It's really simple and doesn't cost you anything extra. All you have to do is sign up online via The Giving Machine - https://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/ and start generating funds for free!
We collect empty ink and toner cartridges, which are then recycled and turned in to cash for the Preschool. Please ask if you would like to take an envelope home to put your empty cartridges in or you can pop them straight in the box in Preschool. Alternatively, if your business could collect cartridges for us to recycle, please let us know and we can supply a recycling box. A full list of the cartridges that can be recycled is available on the Empties Please homepage.
Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers
We are registered with both the Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers for schools schemes. During the promotional periods we have a box in the Preschool to collect vouchers and we are always very grateful for any donated vouchers, particularly if you can encourage friends, neighbours and family members to donate theirs too!
Duxford Advent Market
This takes place annually at the beginning of December in St. John’s Church and is a lovely event to start off the Christmas period, with local craft and gift stalls, mulled wine, food and activities for children. The Duxford Advent Trust was established to raise money for community projects in the village and we are lucky enough to have received a grant from the Trust, which was put towards renovating our outdoor learning space. The Preschool committee has also run a Santa’s Grotto at the Advent Market since it began in 2011. Further information is available on the Duxford Advent Trust website.
Sometimes it’s not all about the children and parents and staff need an excuse to get together and have some fun! This year we held our ‘Quiz with a Difference’ night which was a huge success and very well supported by local businesses and parents. The profit made helped us update some of our equipment and buy new resources for the children. We are planning on putting on another quiz in 2019 so do keep a look out for it in the new year.
