Duxford Preschool is a small, welcoming and vibrant Ofsted Outstanding preschool that cares for children from the age of two years and three months to five years old. We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, during term time only and offer half day and full day sessions.

The Preschool is situated within the grounds of Duxford Community Primary School, where we occupy our own purpose-built building with a dedicated outdoor play area. Originally established in 1970, the Preschool has built up a well-regarded and proven reputation for delivering high quality early years care and education to local families.

Our curriculum follows the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage and staff have high aspirations for children. We ensure they make good progress in their learning and development, and are kept healthy and safe. Progress is monitored and evaluated through the staff’s knowledge of the EYFS, including the characteristics of effective learning with a strong focus on the unique child.

Children at Duxford Preschool are constantly learning through play, discovery, communication and being active and creative. They are able to do this indoors and outdoors, with free-flow access to the garden. These different environments allow the children to explore and make sense of the world around them. All activities and learning are planned in accordance with the children’s interests and needs. With adult support, children are able to practise new skills, problem-solve, take risks and develop their social awareness.
